My Focuses: Web Developer, PHP Developer, Cold Fusion Developer, CSS Designer, Web Interface Designer
What I do: I am a skilled web developer. I recently started a company named Artifect. It is the parent company to a few different sites which are currently in development. Both of them happen to involve writing. One is a Fan Fiction/Original Fiction website called The Resolution Projects. The other is...well...its a secret. It is a site that I believe will be a big hit and is very original. I'll let everyone know about when its done.
I'll add that to our list of promotional plugs when we're ready. At the moment we'd like to only allow word of mouth since there's quite some code left to do before we want to explode.
You're not the first person to suggest that. In fact I bet I've thought on the issue for hours. My philosophy on page views is that they are just that, page views. Any change or exception from this absolute would change the meaning of the statistic.
For this reason I count page views no matter who views the page. If a person wanted to run up their page view count they could simply logout and do so. Making it so you, yourself would not run it up when viewing your own userpage would not entirely stop a person from doing just that.
In the future I would like to setup a more complex statistics tracking tool which would log each hit by user, IP, and user agent so I could differentiate between search engines, users, and guests but for the moment this is what we have. I've also found that with the amount of traffic there is on the site the page views generally are a good indication of just how active a person is on the site.
That's all we use the statistic for at the moment.
Heh you're coding a project I've always wanted to do at some point. At this point I have my hands full with Artician but nice to see the concept is being worked on.
